Dextrose Monohydrate Powder (DMH)

Dextrose Monohydrate (DMH) is a mildly sweet, highly water-soluble sugar with around 65-70% of the sweetness of regular sugar. It forms low-viscosity solutions and blends well with sucrose, sometimes achieving sweetness comparable to that of sucrose itself. DMH also lowers the freezing point more than cane sugar, helping to create smoother, creamier textures in frozen products.

Product Applications

  • Serves as a sweetener, offering about 75% of the sweetness of sucrose.
  • Functions as a flavor enhancer in food preparations, whether used alone or in combination with other sweeteners.
  • Acts as the simplest carbon source monosaccharide, extensively utilized in fermentation processes for rapid growth with excellent yield, free from non-fermentable sugars and low levels of trace minerals and organics, resulting in minimal leftovers to purify.
  • Extends the shelf life of many food products.

Description

Dextrose Monohydrate is a moderately sweet sugar, with a sweetness level of 65-70% that of sucrose. Its solution is significantly less viscous than that of Liquid Glucose. DMH is highly soluble in water at room temperature and also dissolves well in boiling alcohol. In certain blends with sucrose, the perceived sweetness can be elevated to match that of sucrose. Additionally, Dextrose lowers the freezing point more than cane sugar, contributing to a smoother and creamier texture in final products, particularly in frozen foods.
